it does seem to be a common trouble that longer watch chains are heavy and chunky, while daintier watch chains are often too short to be worn as a necklace. two shorter watch chains in the same hue and karat showed up and it felt like the obvious solution to have them combined into a longer chain by an expert jeweler.

in good upcycled condition

the ring clasp is bent out of shape and has a tiny gap, but it is original and does work (with some convincing to close fully) and so the decision was made to leave it. it could easily be swapped for another clasp if you'd rather have a more functional replacement.

the dog clip has a tiny bit of thinning at the base of its bail, which was stabilized recently.
